The ARRA Smart Grid grants invested $9,000,000,000 in modernizing the U.S electric grid.
Nearly $3,000,000,000 of that money was spent on custom integration. Most of that $3,000,000,000 WAS NOT in the projects’ budgets. Unfortunately, the utilities that received the grants had no choice but to spend the money to integrate the ARRA projects into their individual processes.
